It's September and that means here in the UK Autumn is on it's way! Autumn is my favourite season of the year and I am going to explain why...
The colours in nature and beyond
When I think of Autumn, I automatically think of a road near where I live which is lined with

trees. In Autumn the leaves slowly change from lush green to the most beautiful shades of brown, red, yellow and orange before dropping to the ground. It's wonderful. I find that Autumn is the season where I really marvel at nature, and long walks on crisp afternoons with golden light is one of the best things.
The colour inspiration from nature is transferred through to home decor, fashion and even makeup and I just love it.
Autumn fashion
Perfectly leading on from colours, is fashion. As I said above, the seasons and fashion are

inextricably linked. Not only because of the weather, but also the colours and textures. I am a complete sucker for a cosy jumper or funky bobble hat. And if the jumper is in mustard or a warm brown, I'm sold.
Autumn also allows for more experimentation with fashion as the need to layer up arises. Grab those extra layers and try mixing up those colours and textures! I love Autumn fashion so much it has it's own board on my Pinterest, go check it out here for your dose of Autumn fashion!
Cosy nights
By the time the nights start drawing in I'm ready for the cooler weather, because this brings with it cosy nights in by the fire. We have a wood burner and there is nothing like warming yourself by the fire after a brisk walk. It also reminds me of dear memories of my dog when he would lie in front of the fire, before getting too hot and retreating to the cool kitchen floor!
Another favourite cosy Autumn evening activity is reading. What screams Autumn more than reading a book in front of a roaring fire whilst the sun sets?
It's my birthday month!
Another reason I love Autumn, and specifically September, is because it's my birthday month! This makes me a Virgo and my birth stone is a sapphire incase you were wondering.

Every year however, I do get a little less excited to celebrate another year. I'll be 25 this year and it's actually a little terrifying! But it is still nice to celebrate your birthday no matter what you are doing or where you are, no matter how small a celebration or how extravagant, young or old - 'it's my birthday' is something you only get to say once a year, so I should try and enjoy it!
Halloween
I LOVE Halloween. I never used to like scary things but I have to say these days I love a good spooky film and it is the best excuse to dress up and have some fun. Also, pumpkin carving is not only a fun thing to do, I feel like it really is a tradition. The whole process is enjoyable, particularly if you have friends or family to help you out - choosing the best pumpkin, carving it and setting it out pride of place on Halloween is a must do for me!

The only thing about Halloween which can trigger my anxiety a little is trick or treaters. Having a stranger coming to the door any other time can be stressful enough for someone with anxiety, but a group of rowdy teenagers at night? Now the majority of trick or treaters are small kids with their parents, and I enjoy seeing all the costumes, but some people don't and I urge everyone this year, as I do every year, to be respectful of people and remember that it's not a fun time of year for all.

What do you love about Autumn? Or perhaps you don't? Let me know in the comments!
